My little kitten

by Jean-Phylipe Thériault

Hi there, I love your site, the information is just wonderful, but i was wondering if you could help me with something, i just got a kitten from some one, and i wanted to know if you would be able to identify the breeds that may have gone into creating it ? the original owner did not know what type the father was, since he was a stray, and the mother was a mix, and passed away some time affter birthing them.

I think it could have some tabby to it, but theirs no significant body marking. it has big paws, with 5 fingers, its first coat is extremely soft and it may have a second coat since theirs longer hairs of a darker color coming out of the coat

Dear Jean-Phylipe

Thank you for contacting Cat Breed Info! Also, thank you for the compliments about my site!

Unless you got your kitten from a breeder where both the mother and father were pure-breed cats, it is usually difficult to say what breeds a non-pedigree cat is "made up" off.

The word tabby usually refers to the coat markings of the cat, and not a particular breed of cat. I would say that your kitten has tabby patterns; and that your kitten has red tabby markings.

A "red tabby" has orange stripes on a cream ground color. The orange stripes may be dark reddish orange, or light "marmalade" orange.

I hope that this helps! Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any other questions.
